Boating in Uganda

Uganda is a water lover’s paradise, boasting several beautiful lakes, rivers, and reservoirs that offer a range of boating experiences. From leisurely cruises along the Nile River to adrenaline-pumping whitewater rafting on the rapids of the Victoria Nile, there’s something for everyone.

Uganda’s waterways offer a variety of boating experiences, including the Kazinga Channel, a 32-kilometer-long natural channel that connects Lake George and Lake Edward in Queen Elizabeth National Park. A boat ride on the Kazinga Channel is a popular activity among visitors as it provides a unique opportunity to see a diverse range of wildlife, including hippos, crocodiles, elephants, buffalos, and various species of birds.

In addition to the Kazinga Channel, visitors can enjoy boating experiences in other areas of Uganda. Lake Mburo National Park offers boat trips on Lake Mburo, which provide an opportunity to view hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of bird species. Meanwhile, Lake Mutanda, nestled in the shadow of the Virunga Mountains in southwestern Uganda, is known for its tranquil beauty. It offers boat rides that provide stunning views of the surrounding mountains and birdwatching opportunities suitable for picnics and a favorite for honeymooners.
