This 13 Day Uganda Rwanda Gorillas & Wildlife Safari takes you through Uganda to African safari gems and crosses the border to Rwanda meeting the mountain gorillas and spending some time in their jungle home and traversing the African savanna wildlife along the way. You will compare the unique features Uganda and Rwanda present, from the Gorillas both countries share, the green vegetation cover, the rolling hills and valleys. Meeting eye to eye with the amazing Gorillas and Chimpanzees in their natural habitat will be the major highlights of this jungle adventure.

ITINERARY


Day 1: Arrival

Upon arrival, you will be picked by your Uganda Rwanda Gorillas & Wildlife Safari driver guide from Entebbe International Airport and transferred to your hotel where you will be briefed about your Safari. Depending on your arrival time,you may opt for a Kampala City tour.

Day 2: Murchison Falls via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

With an early breakfast, you will drive north of Uganda to Murchison Falls National Park with a stopover at Nakasongola Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to track Rhinos on a nature walk. Lunch will be enroute before we proceed to Murchison arriving in the evening for check-in, briefing of the next Uganda Rwanda Gorillas & Wildlife Safari day’s activities at dinner.

Day 3: Murchison Falls

Morning African savanna wildlife game Drive, safari boat cruise to the bottom of the falls and hike to the top of the Murchison Falls.

Early in the morning, you will head out for your guided African savanna wildlife game drive on the northern bank of the River Nile to view and photograph the diverse wildlife. Your Uganda Rwanda Gorillas & Wildlife Safari guide will help you spot elephant, lion, cape buffalo, Roth child‟s giraffe, hartebeest, waterbuck, oribi, bushbuck, bohor reedbuck, hyena and if you are lucky, the leopard.

After lunch, you will go on a safari boat cruise upstream the calm Victoria Nile to the bottom of the falls stopping just few of meters from the ‘Devil’s Cauldron’, once here you will disembark off the boat and hike to the top of the falls as you feel the ground shake from the drop of the falls.

Day 4: Transfer to Kibale National Park

After Breakfast, you will exit Murchison falls National Park and drive to the western part of Uganda heading for Kibale National Park through verdant homesteads and tea estates

Day 5: Kibale Forest

Chimpanzee Tracking and later in the evening transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

With an early breakfast, you will be dropped off at the starting point in Kayanchu for the Chimpanzee tracking experience in Kibale Forest National Park. Enjoy this guided nature walk in the tropical rainforest in search of the wild chimpanzees and birds. You will also enjoy views of the rare L’Hoest monkey, the black and white Colobus, Blue monkey, Grey cheeked mangabey, Red tailed monkey, Olive baboon and more.

About 4 hours away from Kibale is Queen Elizabeth National Park, your next Uganda Rwanda Gorillas & Wildlife Safari destination. You’ll check out of the hotel and embark on a scenic drive through Fort Portal green belt to Queen Elizabeth NP, arriving in time for dinner and an evening drink and chat in the beautiful African lounge.

Day 6: Queen Elizabeth National Park

Morning African savanna wildlife Game Drive and afternoon Boat Safari on Kazinga Channel into Lake Edward.

Early in the morning, you will head out into the grassy savanna plains of the park in search of the  incredible abundant wildlife as well as lion tracking as they return from parole. View the massive Rwenzori backdrop against the African savanna plains, which provides an excellent chance to spot more lions as well as leopard, giant forest hog, Cape buffalo, elephant, defassa waterbuck, Uganda Kob, topi and bushbuck. This part of the Uganda Rwanda Gorillas & Wildlife Safari puts you into the center of the African savanna.

After lunch, head on a boat Safari on Kazinga Channel into Lake Edward, passing through possibly the highest concentration of hippos and excellent platforms for photography, bird watching and game viewing.

Day 7: Ishasha Sector Through to Bwindi Forest

After your early morning breakfast, you will head to Bwindi via the Ishasha Sector where the impressive tree climbing lions hang high above their pray. Later, proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, through the Kigezi Highlands with its terraced hillside and winding roads.

Day 8: Gorilla Trekking and Batwa Experience

After an early breakfast depart to the park headquarters for briefing about your gorilla trekking adventure after which you will be led by experienced gorilla trackers into the jungle in search of the massive gorillas. Follow the mountain gorillas as they range freely and discover their way of life in their natural habitat.

In the afternoon, you will head out for a guided Batwa community experience as they tell you stories about their life after being banished from Bwindi Forest.

Day 9: Golden Monkey Trekking and transfer to Ruhengeri

After Breakfast, you will be driven to the headquarters of Mgahinga National Park and through the bamboo thickets you will track Golden Monkeys.

Later, the Uganda Rwanda Gorillas & Wildlife Safari party will cross the Border into Rwanda where you will spend the night near Volcanoes National Park.

Day 10: Trek Diana Fossey Grave and transfer to Nyungwe Forest for Canopy walk

After breakfast, you will be dropped off at Volcanoes National Park and taken to the trailhead to begin the trek to the Dian Fossey’s grave. This African nature hike is an incredible experience physically, emotionally and intellectually. It is so inspiring to learn about someone who was so dedicated and left a legacy that exists even today.

After a Uganda Rwanda Gorillas & Wildlife Safari sumptuous lunch you will  begin your scenic drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park where you will go on a canopy walk to catch aerial sight of the rainforest from above.

Day 11: Nyungwe Forest National Park

Black and white Colobus Monkey Tracking and transfer to Lake Kivu.

After Breakfast, you Uganda Rwanda Gorillas & Wildlife Safari guide will transfer you to the park headquarters where you will be briefed and enjoy the forest trek alongside the Large troops of black and white colobus monkeys which reside in Nyungwe Forest.

After lunch at the hotel, you will begin your drive as you  head to Lake Kivu where you will enjoy dinner and overnight.

Day 12: Lake Kivu Holiday

Relax at Lake Kivu and Safari Boat Cruise

Enjoy a relaxed and calm day on the sandy beach of Lake Kivu a and later in the afternoon have a safari boat cruise to explore the lake and its islands.

Day 13: Kigali City Excursion

End the Uganda Rwanda Gorillas & Wildlife Safari in the beautiful African city of Kigali. You will set out to Kigali for a City tour where you will visit the Genocide memorial center in Kigali it acts as a museum where both locals and international visitors can learn about the history of the genocide.

After which you will be dropped off at the airport by your driver guide for your outbound flight back home.
